The Bulgarian fashion industry supported the campaign “ Give birth in Bulgaria”.
Professor Lyubomir Stoikov: “ The Academy for fashion answered the appeal of the foundation “ A dream for a child” and its chairwoman Ivelina Ruskova, and engaged the best and most talented designers!”
The first of its kind charitable events - “Fashion show with a noble cause” - was held on April 13th, 2022 , in Grand Hotel Millennium. It was organised by the chairwoman of the foundation “A Dream for a child” Ivelina Ruskova. Well known Bulgarian designers took part in the national campaign
“ Give birth in Bulgaria”, by presenting one formal original outfit in the charitable fashion show. The audience had the chance to purchase the pieces.
Among the designers and fashion houses that participated in this noble event, were winners of the “Golden Needle” award - Albena Alexandrova, Sofia Borissova, Zhana Zhekova, Axel Hardy, Radostina Ilieva, Radoslava Lazarova, Theodora Spassova, Jordanka Chernaeva, Anton Uzunov, as well as other designers like Mila Zaharieva, Essil Duran, Milena Petrova, Ciara Fashion, Alfa Bridal, Plamena Viareal and Lilian Edwards.
The outfits were worn by public figures, who inspire with their ability to balance motherhood and successful careers - a mission which they accomplish very well. These were: Veronica Stefanova, Tsveti Radoicheva, Kremena Ilieva, Tanya Skrinska, Jordana Dimitrova, Elisaveta Stoyanova - Gareva, Maria Andonova, Irina Papazova, Iva Ekimova, Mila Zaharieva, Roxana Kirilova, Rositsa Velkova, Albena Koralieva, Violeta Macheva, Atanaska Angelina, and Sofia Paskaleva.
In addition to the outfits presented in the show, the guests had the opportunity to admire and purchase other original designs by the participants and their fashion brands.
Every donor received a diploma for their support, whilst the designers and the benefactors were given a special surprise - a beautiful piece of jewellery each, created specially for the event, as a sign of gratitude. There was a lottery with tickets, which the guests bought during the event, and the winners received special gifts from the foundation’s partners.
All collected money from the show and the lottery, amounting to 19 400 leva, were donated to the campaign “ Give birth in Bulgaria”, which aims at providing information and motivating young people in Bulgaria to take a timely decision to become parents and not postpone it too much, since late attempts at pregnancy carry high health risks and often cause reproductive problems. The campaign encourages Bulgarian couples in one more way - all pregnancies registered in the platform “ Give birth in Bulgaria”, within this year, take part in a lottery for winning 20 care packages for families with newborn babies, which include everything necessary during the baby’s first year - food, strollers, diapers, cribs, baby chairs, cosmetics etc.
In addition to the wonderful people who participated in the event, a young boy, 9 years of age, with a big heart - Ilian Strashilov, donated to the cause all the money he received for his birthday. Another highlight was the fact that after the auction, not only all the outfits were purchased, but also the interest towards some of the outfits and fashion brands increased even more. Even though they were bought at a later time, the money still went for supporting this noble campaign.
During the charitable event, prof. Lyubomir Stoikov, chairman of the Academy for fashion, shared: “ Let the children come to me and never stop them, for theirs is the Heavenly kingdom”, these words spoken by Christ, as well as Picasso’s statement that children are the greatest painters, greater even than him, are only a small part of the big idea about uplifting young people, caring for them and supporting them and giving them the best chance in Iife. He added: “ I am happy to announce that the Academy for fashion answered to the call of the foundation “ A dream for a child” and engaged some of the best and most talented Bulgarian designers, many of whom winners of the “ Golden Needle” award, to take part in the “ Fashion show with a noble cause”, as well as to donate some of their own creations towards fundraising for couples with reproductive problems and young families. I deeply thank them and the kind and engaged top models, business ladies, and well known public figures from the big screen - for their wonderful good hearts. My admiration for Ms. Ivelina Ruskova - chairwoman of the foundation “ A dream for a child”, whose noble initiative this event is. Nobody in this country should close their eyes for one of the gravest problems that face us as a nation - the demographic problem - the disappearance of our people. The Academy for fashion will continue to stand for our national and human interests and will support by all means the cause “Give birth in Bulgaria ''.
The official face of the campaign is the Bulgarian top model Veronica Stefanova - Miss Bulgaria World 2017 and the face of “ Golden Needle 2021”, who recently became a mother for the second time. The host of the charitable event was the Bulgarian pop singer Joanna Dragneva ( glowing in an outfit from “Blink” fashion house with Radostina Lazarova as its designer) who, together with Victoria Asenova and Tsveti Radoicheva entertained and kept the high spirits and good mood of the guests.
